Over the fall semester, AMA hosted multiple events and meetings that helped connect members with the community, employers, and experienced marketing professionals. AMA members had the opportunity to learn new strategies in marketing, build their professional network and develop as business students and individuals. Our chapter grew significantly in membership this semester, gaining 130 new members. We currently have over 200 national members! Looking back, we are recapping the moments and people who made the semester such a success.
Fall 2021 Events
The fall semester events focused on giving back, learning and developing social media marketing tools and networking with various employers.
AMA supported Feed The Pack this semester which aims to combat food insecurity experienced by members of the community. The food pantry is open to all members of the campus community. This semester AMA donated a total of 50 pounds of goods to support the organization! To contribute or find more information, visit the FAQ page.
“AMA’s donation is incredibly helpful in helping Feed the Pack fulfill our mission of supporting the greater NC State community. AMA’s contribution will allow our 150+ weekly patrons to create filling, nutritious meals for themselves and their families.” -Keya Pothireddy, Feed the Pack
AMA members experienced a great lesson in personal branding online through the LinkedIn Workshop presented in partnership with Brie Boothby and Missy Hannah from the SAS Corporate Social Media Team. This workshop explained specific tips and tricks to enhance your LinkedIn profile, highlight your strengths and skills in order to stand out as a candidate and network online in the most effective ways.
“ LinkedIn is such a great platform to market yourself professionally, share passion projects and connect with others around the globe. We can’t wait to see how these AMA students put their new LinkedIn knowledge to the test as they apply for jobs and enter their careers.” -Brie Boothby, SAS Marketing (via LinkedIn)
One of the most productive and popular events hosted this semester was the 8th annual Meet the Pros, where AMA members were able to virtually network with employers from State Farm, Trane Technologies, E&J Gallo, Cintas, SAS, Varonis, Cisco, The Link Group and Wasserman. This career fair directly connected students with employers and companies looking for new interns and full time candidates. The fair included an employer Q&A panel followed by a private career fair where students made connections with interested companies.
Fall 2021 Member Meetings
This semester’s member meetings were filled with valuable advice from leaders in the marketing field. With an average of 80 members at each meeting, students were eager to hear from these professionals and their expert strategies on business and career planning.
The first of the semester meetings included a presentation from Zach Wood from Federated Insurance where he explored how to find the right career path.
